I want to write. Why? I don’t know really. I’m fascinated with words and sounds, phonics and their meanings. But what would I even write about? I have a blog, sure, but that’s not really writing. I want to really write, to move oceans with my words. How do I begin? I don’t plan on going to university, I’m technically on my, what some might call, “gap year”. But is it really a gap year or is it just a year. The latter, I guess. Fiction, non fiction, articles or poems. All I know is that I have an urge to write, to express. I’m not even sure what it is that I would be expressing, there is no real deep desire or passion within me other than the fact of life itself. But, if I only write about life then I feel that I may go mad. For if one is constantly embarking on a kind of existential crisis, that makes for no pleasant experience at all. I want to be living life, not looking from the outside in. I feel as if I am just rambling now, but the truth is that I’ve held all of these words and thoughts inside of me for some time. Never truly using the outlet of a keyboard and a screen to articulate what I want to say, even if I do not in fact know what it is that I want to say. I hope that makes sense and doesn’t come across in some kind of warped, Alice in Wonderland type way. I just had to write, that’s all.
As some of my more eagle-eyed readers may have noticed, I have recently moved house! Well, I moved a couple of months ago but I am just now getting to the point where my bedroom is looking kinda how I want it. Home decor and interior design is something that I have always had an interest in. Whether this be scrolling through Pinterest and creating mood boards of my dream house or looking at Instagram to spot the latest trends in home design. With moving house, comes decorating and styling a whole new bedroom situation, and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
My bedroom in my old house was, and I’m not kidding, horrible. Well, perhaps not horrible, but it was plain and boring and lacking of character. So, you can imagine my excitement when I got to really put a stamp on my new abode.
The room is majorly inspired by Parisian style (one of my true loves as some of you may know from my recent makeup tutorial over on my YouTube channel). So a lot of the furniture (I say a lot, there actually isn’t a lot of furniture) is very vintage-looking yet modern and fresh. I wouldn’t say I’m a minimalist, but I like the clean, white look with pops of colour here and there. Basically, I’m a walking talking contradiction and you shouldn’t listen to any of my descriptions, but alas, you’re still reading so I guess I’ll show you the good bit now…
Reading Festival is one of those places where I just can’t stop myself from going. There’s something special about camping in a muddy field with your best friends, eating crappy food, drinking warm wine and being surrounded by good music that is so majestic to me. It really epitomises the essence of a good ol’ British summer.
Some of you may be wondering why I suddenly went M.I.A straight after uploading my last blog post and now I can finally share with you the reason!
As you may have guessed from the title of this post, I have decided to start a YouTube channel, yay for self confidence and boredom!
So, yes the long awaited YouTube channel is finally here and rolling along. I’m honestly so excited to start this new journey as it means that I’ll be able to share even more of my life with you guys and you’ll actually get to see me in the flesh (well, not in the flesh but you catch my drift).
So please please please check out the channel, give me a little subscribe and video recommendations of what you want to see. I promise I won’t be abandoning the blog, so don’t fear my loyal readers, you can just indulge in more of my content 😉
You can check out my latest video here!
I hope you enjoy it and I’ll be back next week with another blog post.
Gran Canaria is a small island, part of the archipelago Canary Islands, situated off the coast of north west Africa and belonging to Spain. The island, whose name originally meant “Great Island of Dogs”, is known to experience a micro climate, a factor that definitely attracts tourist and holiday-makers, like myself, to the beautiful island.
Just last night I returned from a lovely, brief and exhilarating four day trip to Dublin. This was my first time in the Irish capital and I am sincerely hoping that it won’t be my last. Before arriving, I had already strewed up an image of the city in my mind, focusing solely on drinking and an abundance of laughter and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the most beautiful hotel called Finnstown Castle just on the outskirts of the city (approx. 30 min drive). The grounds were amazing and filled with stunning water features, eloquent gardens and fields of animals. I can honestly say that I felt like I was in Downton Abbey! The staff were so attentive and the dining area was bright, calm and inviting – just the things I look for in a hotel.
As some of you may already know from my Instagram page (_maisiewaters), my boyfriend and I went to Paris for my 18th Birthday! It was everything I imagined beautiful, historic, lively and bursting with culture and ambience. So, in order to show you all what a wonderful time I had, I thought I would share some of my favourite photos from our mini trip!
